The Year 7 catch-up funding is provided to schools to support students moving from primary school who have not achieved the expected levels of progress in English and Maths.
Perryfields High School was allocated £16,067 catch up funding for the financial year 2019-20. We have allocated this money to a range of activities and created additional support for those students identified as requiring catch up support.
Ofsted made positive comments about our use of catch up funding during their visit in January 2018. They said:
“Leaders now spend additional funding well. Leaders ensure that the student premium, the Year 7 literacy and numeracy catch-up premium and special educational needs funding lead to progress for these students. For example, leaders have recruited additional staff and have bought revision resources and this helps students do well in assessments. In some cases, they have reduced class sizes which, in this school, has helped students overcome any barriers to their learning.”
In 2019-20 this funding was used to support the following strategies, amongst other whole school initiatives:
The impact of the strategies above will continue to be reviewed through regular analysis of progress and attainment data and whole school Teaching and Learning monitoring procedures.
